ANDERSON WINS THE PEPSI 100
|
With the new Pepsi score board up and running along with the new Race Car Engineering Victory Circle set up for the night there were nine featured races scheduled for the Punta Gorda paved oval. First up would be the Fab 4 who saw there race cut to fifteen laps due to wrecks and cautions every laps . The 57 of Logan Leonard came across the line first second was the 11 of Jimmy Welker and third was the 22 of Jeremy Perkins. The T Q Midgets were up next with a quick twenty five laps, the winner was the 52 of Michael Elder second the 30 of Michael Beliesar and third the 26 of Ted Durfee. Josh Williams made it to the winners circle first for the Legends, Codey Benoit second and Mitch Verhaagh third. Next would be the Dwarf Cars with the 2 of Phil Krauthoff out in front for the entire race and Roger Richmond second, John Baiely third. The Fastrucks got off to a bad start with the number nine budwiser truck of Gary Laplant blowing up right after taking the green, when the clean up was done all eyes were on the young guns of Ross Chastain and Stephen Nasse, who are also running first and second in the points chase, as they battled for the lead, when on lap sixteen the 36 of Chastain put the moves on Nassie and took over that first spot were he would stay till the checker came out, Nasse had to settle for second and the 64 of Brent Huber third. Randy Kile won the Thunder Truck race, 19x of Ryan Meiser was second and Tom Pryor third. Then was the big race of the night were the 19 of Kevin Macy out of Bartow sat on the pole and the returning Mike Franklin of Homestead driving the silver 77 outside him. It took Macy everything he had to hold off the 84 of Wayne Anderson for the first 47 laps which is what it took Anderson to finally get around him and take over the lead brining Mike Hollywood Franklin with him and sending Macy to the third spot. The last fifty laps it was Andersons turn to do everything he could to hold on to the lead who had Mike Franklin right on his bumper. Anderson got loose a couple times when everyone thought that would be the lap Franklin would take over but with both drivers racing each other clean Anderson went on to win the race with Mike Franklin coming in second and the 51 of Richie Anderson Third. The last race of the night would be the Pro 4, which got there 25 laps in ending right at the 11:30 curfew. The class had 13 cars take the green and have been putting on a great show every week with mostly caution free, sometimes four wide battling for every position racing going on. The class name is becoming the description also of the way the drivers have been racing “ LIKE PRO’S”. At the end of the Pro race it was the 85 of David Amelotte taking the win the 90 of Jacob Ingram came in second but was Dqed in tech which moved the 1 of Cory Scott to the second spot and the 27 of Derrick Horton third.
